July 9th - Redwoods Benefit

Take Back Your Forest is a “movement” Amy created a few years ago to cause a connection between our community and our environment. We put on benefit concerts for the Sempervirens Fund: a non-profit that purchases redwood forest in the Santa Cruz Mountains for preservation and conservation. They are responsible for the preservation of most of Big Basin State Park.

Part of the vision for Take Back Your Forest is to have all event expenses covered by in kind donations from local companies and all performances 100% donated by local performers. This way the Sempervirens Fund makes as much money as possible.

The line up for July 9th includes singer-songwriter Amy Obenski, the a fantastic Poet Louis Jackson and mesmerizing jazz singer, Corinne Fimbrez. Plus we will have a couple other short performances by The Poet J.C. and musical artist, Rhythma. If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area you will want to be there!

The First 2010 post. Really?!

Yes it’s true. We’ve been a little delinquent in keeping you up on the latest news. But the truth is Amy took a little break over the Winter months. But shows have started to pick up again. And it looks like Amy will be playing at the exciting Beltane Festival at Stanford University this Saturday. Also, recording has officially started for the next album. But that’s all we’re going to say about it at this point.

Earthdance and Beyond

If you’re planning on heading to Earthdance in Laytonville, California, be sure to catch Amy at the Global Healing Village stage on Friday night, September 25th at 9pm. In October, Amy will be heading back up to Portland, Oregon, and also stopping in Arcata, California, and then returning to central Cali with shows in Monterey and Davis. Writing and recording are starting to enter the picture again so don’t be surprised if the show schedule slows down a bit through Winter.

Summer Schedule

Amy is taking on summer full force this year and has been invited to participate in many exciting events.  The world renowned Earthdance Festival is welcoming her for the first time this September.  This is a huge step in the right direction.  Late in August she’s participating in the Womansong event at the Spirit Garden in Big Sur.  The event presents several Female songstress performers in one ampitheatre.  It’s a great excuse to spend a weekend camping in one of the most beautiful places on earth.  (Not that you need one.)  And finally she’ll be performing as part of the Lovejoint Festival.  An evening of art, music, dance, and spoken word in San Francisco.  This event will be benefiting Project Baby Love.

Free Radio Interview Mp3

The West Coast Tour has been going great. KLCC radio in Eugene, Oregon, has posted an mp3 on their site of Amy Obenski and Daniel Brown’s on air interview and performance. Look under June 13th, 2009 and you’ll find the free mp3 for download. Enjoy!

May - West Coast Tour Dates

We’re kicking off the West Coast Tour on May 15th starting in Lompoc, California, and doing a loop through L.A. and San Diego before heading back up to a show in San Luis Obispo. It is sure to be a whirlwind of an experience with five days of shows back to back. Daniel Brown will be accompanying Amy on cello. We’re really excited this is the first time she will have back up on the road. His playing complements the music exquisitely. June dates are taking shape through Northern California and all the way through Oregon, up to Portland. All of the confirmed dates are listed on the tour page and there will be more to come for June. The tours will be documented via photo blogs on Myspace and Facebook. If you can’t make it to a show then you can connect with us there!

Every First Saturday in San Francisco

Amy Obenski will be performing every first Saturday of the month at the Mama Art Cafe in San Francisco.  “Mama Art is my home in the City”, says Amy.  The cafe is eclectic, refreshing, and inviting.  The Mexican family who owns it encourages art in all forms and it shows.  Art work is displayed on the walls and changes regularly and the music ranges from salsa to country.  Amy will be playing at 2pm, either solo or with additional artists.  But either way, Mama Art and Amy Obenski will both be there the first Saturday of every month.  Come check out this unique space!

West Coast Tour taking shape

The first few dates of the West Coast Tour have been booked.  So far the cities are Lompoc, Los Angeles, and San Diego.  Amy will be traveling all over the west coast in May and June with cello player, Daniel Brown.  Stay tuned for more dates.
